Yoga Room Vision Board

There’s a lot going on in the world with stress hitting us from all ends, god knows it’s been a messy year. I’ve struggled with a lot of stress, anxiety and depression since my early teens so having a space to unwind, relax and clear my head is detrimental. Since I have a spare bedroom in my apartment I’ve decided to make it into a yoga/meditation room.

For the room itself I was thinking of having something simple and calming. These are some ideas and inspirations that I have in mind.

A bringt, simple “awake” vibe.
Sunset inspired room with deep calming vibes.
More lounge materials in the corner of the room.

When you’re planning a yoga/meditation room it’s best to have some ideas of essential items that you might want to invest in.

These are some of the essential items I found would best fit my needs.

Yoga mat from Hreysti.is obviously a good yoga mat is on the list of essentials, the yoga mat I want is 8mm thick to help with the cozy pillowy feeling of the room.

Tibetan singing bowls from Likamiogheilsa.is this is something I’ve wanted for some time now, the bowls produce deep, ambient sounds and vibrations. Add some flowers and water for some extra beautiful visuals.

Philips hue from Elko. So the plan with putting philips hue color lighting is to be able to adjust the lighting according the mood I’m in. These lights can make the room very versatile. For an example when you wake up and want to do some morning yoga, you can adjust the lighting in the room to bring out bright and vibrant colours. In the evenings you might want to adjust them to have an orangey/sunset undertones, or even pick a deep blue for that ambient “under the sea” feeling.

At the moment the apartment is under a lot of construction but I will be posting updates and before and after pictures of the yoga room.

Healthy Greek Trout, Perfect For Hot Summer Days.

Usually when I get to eat a good trout/salmon dish I often think to myself “Man this would be so much better if this was chicken” Well this is not one of those recipes. All the elements of this dish brings to gather a great balance for the trout.

I ordered the trout at a local market marinaded in a lemon, butter, and herbs. The trick to cooking the trout is having the pan nice and hot, then cooking each side for 2-3 minutes. Make sure you get the skin nice and crispy.

I used this recipe to make the flatbread but noticed it needed a bit of seasoning. So I added a teaspoon of garlic, italian seasoning, and chili flakes. You can use whatever herbs and spices that you like. The texture of this bread is to die for.

The Tzatziki sauce really brings out the freshness of the dish and is bursting with beneficial ingredients like the greek yogurt thats full of good probiotics like  Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lactobacillus casei.

Ingredients:

2 or more cloves of garlic.

2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil.

1 tablespoon of lemon juice.

1/2 teaspoon of salt or more per taste.

350 ml og greek yogurt.

A small bunch of mint, remember less is more and slowly add it in to see if you want more mint flavour.

Blend that all together in a blender.

Add one medium sized cucumber grated and lightly squeezed into the mix. Stir and serve! I’d also recommend to serve this with some fresh leafy greens.

This dish is high in good quality protein, deliciously healthy fats and very decent on the calorie scale.

One serving

This is a rough estimate of the calories and macros for one serving.

Skincare Game-Changers

Skincare is complicated with a long list of steps and a growing list of new and improved products that may or may not work for you.
It’s important to have your basics down before anything else. You’ve got your cleansers, exfoliators, moisturizers, and sunscreens. When you have that down you can add in more complex products like your essences, serums, oils, toners, and much more.
It’s been an uphill battle to find what works for my skin as my skin is very acne-prone and oily to the point where you could probably deep-fry calamari on my forehead on a hot summer day.
My skincare routine hasn’t been enough to fight off the wrath of my skin, so I’ve added a couple of items that have completely changed my skin;

1. The Ordinary Peeling Solution. This is an AHA and BHA blend which is a chemical exfoliator. This product is excellent for peeling away dead skin cells to reduce clogged pores and acne deep within the skin. This product has been a game-changer for the texture of my skin and overall wellness. Be careful with this one since the solution is very strong, so follow the instructions carefully

2. Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup Melting Butter. This one is a banger and does everything an oil cleanser is supposed to do, melt away the day’s worth of makeup and sunscreen, even the pesky eyeliner my other cleansers struggle to remove.

3. The NIACINAMIDE 10% + ZINC 1% serum is one of those serums you need to give some time to work, cuz girl it WORKS! This product has reduced my oil production from being ready to deep-fry god knows what to a dewy healthy amount of oily. I’ve also noticed an improvement in skin texture on top of fading my dark spots. Don’t sleep on this one.

4. ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40. This is essentially sunscreen with light coverage. I’m impressed by its strength and the natural coverage it delivers, without compromising your SPF needs. This product is a mineral sunscreen with the active ingredients of Zinc Oxide. I always recommend mineral sunscreen over chemical as it’s better for the skin and coral reefs.

The Mediterranean Diet

Lot’s of antioxidant rich fruits is essential for the Mediterranean diet

The Mediterranean diet is one of the eco-friendly diets that has been praised for its sustainability for those who want to live a healthy lifestyle. The diet is very plant-based centered but with the addition of seafood, lots of olive oil, and the occasional chicken. However, it limits your consumption of red meat as it should be treated as a delicacy.

I usually start my day with crisp bread that’s loaded with nuts and seeds topped with pesto, avocado and mozzarella. Crisp bread and spicy tuna is also a great combination to die for.

Hidden under all that beautiful feta cheese is cucumber, tomato and bell pepper salad. This is by far my favourite type of salad.
