Following the positive feedback, Sigrun Lilja decided to commercially produce the shoes, THE MODEL, and make them available in selected stores as part of Gydja Collection´s new spring collection.

They are By-product
Our fish leathers are produced from different varieties of fish commonly caught for food. For this reason, these materials are a by-product reclaimed from food processing activities, as the animals are not raised with the express purpose of using their hides. The fishing stocks are sourced all robust and far from any risk of endangerment. By selecting fish leather hides we can offer consumers a stylish and popular item that is also environmentally sound.
They are Eco friendly
The power of the nature is used in its methods of producing fish leather. The tanning and coloration process require abundant hot water, which means that such production would generally be considered energy-intensive and even harmful to the environment. However, in the production of our fish leathers only geothermal hot water is used, which is an efficient, environmentally-friendly and renewable resource. In addition, all electricity comes from a hydroelectric power station.
